Best Practices
Tips for Best Practices for Painting and Drywall Finishes:
Tip#1: Scrape, Sand, and Priming
- Prep is the most important part of a paint job. Scraping and sanding are both manually hand and dirty jobs, but a necessary part of the job. Start by scraping all loose paint chips from area to be painted. With a scraper, a 5 in 1 painters tool, or a putty knife. Then sand the remaining paint and rough area with a palm sander or a sanding sponge (100 grit). Choose a quality primer like Sherwin Williams Multi-Purpose Latex Primer. This product is great for a DIY’er on interior and exterior paint projects. Then prime the entire area that will be painted. Primer can be used over stains, ink, tar, and grease. This being a latex product it is easy to clean hand and tools with soap and warm water.
